The Governing Body of St Mark's CE School
St Mark’s School – volunteers needed
St Mark’s CE School is expanding to be the City of Southampton’s first all-through setting from September 2022, providing education for pupils from YR to Y11. This is an exciting time for the whole school community, and we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to expand our governing body. In particular, we are looking for individuals with experience in secondary education and we currently have 4 vacancies. You’d join us initially as associate members, with an opportunity to be elected as parent or co-opted governors from the autumn term 2021.
As a Church of England School we are committed to providing our pupils with an outstanding learning environment, embedded in our Christian ethos. We also pride ourselves with the links we have with St Mark's Church and the Diocese of Winchester. We believe strongly in fostering a nurturing environment and growing confident, resilient lifelong learners in line with our values of love, equality, inclusion and respect. If you have synergy with our ethos and values, then we can offer you a positive and rewarding experience within our governing body.
Community engagement is high on our agenda, and we value an independent view to support our new all-through school in its long-term development and improvement. The skills and expertise you bring will have value in collectively helping the governing board to be more effective. Furthermore, in your role as a critical friend to the school, you will help to monitor resources and improve outcomes for all our pupils.
We are members of the National Governors Association (NGA) and are able to provide a range of training opportunities to support our governors in their role, as well as develop understanding of the key areas of school management. If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved in a range of school matters, which can include recruitment, finance or curriculum, and you can bring a fresh perspective, we are keen to hear from you. For further information and/or informal discussion, please contact chair@st-marks-southampton.gov.uk or email a letter of interest to the school office info@st-marks-southampton.org.uk.
Please note successful applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
The Governing body hold regular meetings throughout the academic year. For full information regarding our Governing Body please see "Our Governors" on the "About Us" page of our website.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for.
